Opis stanowiska:
We have an opening for an experienced Development Geologist to work with the Reservoir Characterization team. The primary roles for the candidate will be to perform reservoir characterization studies and modeling in the Norway operated assets, and to interact with the Well Planning team providing advice on placement of wells in the active and continuous development drilling program.
The candidate will collaborate with the established Subsurface GGRE staff responsible for advancing our characterization and predictive tools, with current focus on the chalk reservoirs in the fields of the Greater Ekofisk Area. The position offers potential for exposure to a wide range of reservoir characterization challenges including characterization of reservoir scale structural heterogeneity, its evolution with continued water injection and production, and the impacts on fluid flow with time; assessment of reservoir compaction effects, integration of 3D and 4D seismic data, evaluation of reservoir characterization elements critical to assessing options for further EOR in the fields, construction and maintenance of reservoir geomodels, and access to a substantial historical database of data from several hundred wells representing 40 yrs of development and production history. Additionally, the candidate will be directly involved with the well planning and post-audit processes for the ongoing development drilling program.
Specific responsibilities of the job may include:
- Identify, recommend and deliver systematic studies to advance our understanding of the reservoir characteristics of the Norway operated fields (historical and current focus is on the Ekofisk and Eldfisk chalk fields)
- Maintain or construct geomodels that house our best understanding of the reservoir characteristics
- Interface with reservoir engineers, petrophysicists and geophysicists in updating the reservoir characterization to improve the history match of the reservoir flow models
- Provide guidance on reservoir uncertainties and risks relevant to assessment of development well locations
- Compile post-audit data on development well results in comparison to pre-drill predictions
- Collaborate with Norway Subsurface teams to justify and gain approval for additional data acquisition in the ongoing well operations programs
- Interface with COP Subsurface Technology and industry to identify new technologies to advance our reservoir characterizations
- Mentor and disseminate reservoir characterization and/or geomodeling skills to the team.
